Cemvision
CemVision is re-inventing cement by replacing everything that’s bad about it with a product that is economical, environmentally friendly, and technically superior.
Subsequent to water, cement is the most consumed material in the world. We are in the foreseeable future still heavily dependent on cement as the key material to develop our societies, as 75% of the infrastructure needed in 2050 is yet not been built.
There is however a catch. Cement is unfortunately one of the biggest CO2 emitters and for every ton produced, about 800 kg carbon dioxide is released in the atmosphere. This equals about 8% of the global CO2 emissions. We clearly need to solve the cement challenge in order to stop climate change, a matter we deeply care about.
With that said, we are extremely proud of our investment in CemVision as they are re-inventing cement by replacing everything that’s bad about it with a product that is economical, environmentally friendly, and technically superior. CemVision is replacing the limestone (which stands for about 70% of the cement emissions) for recycled waste material from the industry sector, which in turn enables the efficiency in the electrification of the production process.
The solution has the potential of reducing the emissions by 1 gigaton per year, can you imagine the positive impact that has!
The team
CemVision was founded in 2020 in Nybro, the southern parts of Sweden, with the aim to create a sustainable and accessible building material with the whole world as their market. The three founders Marcus Olsson, Claes Kollberg and Paul Sandberg have an extensive background and experience within the cement manufacturing industry and share the vision of contributing to the reverse of climate change.
Backers’ perspective
Cement is one the largest CO2 emitters, and crucial in order to build all infrastructure going forward. The industry is screaming after CO2-free cement but there are still no durable, large scale solutions on the market. We believe CemVision is on the right track solving this huge global problem and we are excited to support the journey of CemVison and its founders, says our CEO & Partner Sara Resvik.
